Stepping on the Napa Valley Vine Trail

I’m so proud to have my name on a footprint at the Yountville Shelter on the Napa Valley Vine Trail and now can honestly say that I’ve left my mark in the charming town I call home. It always brings a smile to my face to see my footprint when I’m out for a power walk.

Thank you to my friends who donated money to help me raise enough funds during the 2022 Loco-Motion fundraising and fitness challenge to earn this footprint, which means so much to me. And cheers to @alphaomegavintners Robin and Michelle Baggett for always stressing to the @aowinery team the importance of giving back to the community and being a shining example of philanthropy. They have been incredible supporters of the Vine Trail, donating wine, sponsoring Loco-Motion, etc., in an effort to help complete the 47-mile walking and biking trail system connecting the entire Napa Valley — from the Vallejo Ferry to Calistoga.

I was introduced to the Vine Trail in 2016 when Michelle asked me to fill in for Robin on a June 1st ride christening the first leg of the path to open. (Robin had to be in Sonoma for the Wine Spectator Learning Center groundbreaking ceremony.) The two had joined other vintners in purchasing an auction lot that included two bicycles, riding the 12.5-mile-path from the beginning of the trail at Kennedy Park to Yountville, and lunch. My bike riding history calls for another blog post, but I was apprehensively thrilled to participate.

I’ve been a Vine Trail member, making my annual donation, for the past several years. I didn’t own a bike until I moved to Yountville. I don’t ride the trail as often as I should. But I do love walking on the scenic path. This May, Alpha Omega will once again participate in Loco-Motion as a team so I’ll reach out to my friends and ask for support again as I log my miles during my power walks and on the Peloton, whose activity counts as well. It’s all about moving.

Friends, If you live in or visit Napa Valley or like Napa Valley wine, please consider making a donation to make Napa a safer place and keep cars off the road. I know people who bike to work on the trail but we need to keep building more of it. The St. Helena to Calistoga portion is under construction. Click here  for more info.
