Paying homage to Eartha Kitt

Square

Everybody should have an anthem. Mine is Eartha Kitt’s “Santa Baby.” You don’t have to be a gold-digger to appreciate lyrics like:

Santa baby, just slip a sable under the tree for me….

Santa honey, I want a yacht and really that’s not a lot….

Santa cutie, there’s one thing I really do need, the deed, to a platinum mine….

Santa honey, forgot to mention one little thing, a ring. I don’t mean on the phone, Santa honey.

It’s just wishful thinking. I play “Santa Baby” continuously during the holidays. Since Eartha sadly succumbed to colon cancer on Christmas Day, I just might pay homage to this legendary star by playing her trademark song year round in 2009. R.I.P. Eartha.
